Which dumpster size do you need?
Most Sacramento home projects fit a 10, 20 or 30-yard roll-off. Weight matters as much as space.
| Size | About this big | Holds | Typical weight allowance | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 yard | 12 × 8 × 3.5 ft | 3 pickup loads | 1–2 tons | Small bathroom, one-room cleanout |
| 15 yard | 16 × 7.5 × 4 ft | 4–5 pickup loads | 2–3 tons | Basement cleanout, mid-size roof |
| 20 yard | 22 × 8 × 4.5 ft | 6–8 pickup loads | 2–4 tons | Kitchen remodel, garage cleanout |
| 30 yard | 22 × 8 × 6 ft | 9–12 pickup loads | 4–5 tons | Whole-home cleanout, big remodel |
| 40 yard | 22 × 8 × 8 ft | 12–16 pickup loads | 5–8 tons | Demolition, new construction |
Heavy debris
Concrete, brick, dirt and roofing shingles hit the weight limit long before the container is full. Ask for a smaller "heavy debris" dumpster, and tell the company what you're throwing away so the quote includes the right weight allowance.
